A car crashed into a steel bollard in Berlin-Neukölln and rolled over. The driver and passenger were slightly injured.

The 42-year-old driver of the car was on Saturday morning around 5.30 a.m. on Karl-Marx-Strasse towards the Autobahn, the police said. There he rammed a bollard that separates the road from the bike lane. The car rolled over on its side due to the force of the collision.

The man told the alarmed officials that he had to avoid an oncoming vehicle. Witnesses could not confirm this version.

A woman is said to have got out of the car and run away immediately after the accident. The 31-year-old returned later and was in shock. She came to a hospital. Both were only slightly injured despite the serious accident.

The man said it was his girlfriend. However, she disagreed. It was a commercial trip that you booked via an app. The driver again denied working for a driving service.

A voluntary alcohol and drug test on the man was reportedly negative. The investigation initially continued.
