Survivors unite and now support children with cancer: “I want to show young patients that it will be all right”

Young adults who had cancer as children are now brought together in a community to support young cancer patients. The initiative comes from the Belgian KickCancer foundation. Ex-child cancer patient Anke Van Camp (22) from Duffel is one of the first 14 ‘patient experts’ on the committee. “My friends were allowed to go to parties and I wasn’t. I struggled with that as a teenager with cancer. But the perception of adults is different,” she says.
