Surf trip and water sports: addresses and itineraries

LSummer is upon us and the holiday booking fever is starting to rise. A single dream whose protagonists are the sun, the beach, the sea and a cot where you can let yourself go limply to forget the winter fatigues and shake off the dampness of the colder months. But not everyone longs for days of sweet doing nothingthere are those who can’t wait to reach the seaside resorts to indulge in the most adventurous water activities and sports to practice on the beach, surfing, windsurfing and sup: thanks to a newfound energy given by the holiday mood.

Jesolo, between surfing and watersports

And then just open the map and point your finger at Jesoloon the Adriatic coast, one of the most experienced localities in the area, which is part of the Eastern Venice Tourist District (venezia orientaledistrettoturistico.it). Arrived in the town, thanks to the Bridgman Watersport Center (bridgman.it), you can compete in surfing and windsurfing sessions, stand up paddle (also called sup, a variant of surfing that uses a larger board) and wakeboarding, a fusion between water skiing and snowboarding.

After so much activity, the ideal is an evening of relaxation, in an elegant room with a garden view at the charming hotel Casa Bianca al Mare (doubles from 220 euros, hotelcasabianca.com).

The thrill of speed

Windsurfing in Mondello (Palermo).

If wakeboarding has entered your heart, moving to Emilia-Romagna, to Milano Marittima, you can stop at Wake Park Mima (facebook.com/wakeparkmima), where you can try the wakeboarding experience, also suitable for beginners. Heading further south you arrive in the Marche region, in Senigallia to be precise, famous for its wide velvet beach, so called for its very fine sand, and where the Associazione Velica Senigallia (avsenigallia.it) sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, sup courses are held, as well as hilarious wing surfing lessons, which take inspiration from the kite and others from windsurfing. And since Senigallia is renowned for its restaurants, with a little advance you can be awarded a table by the three-starred chef Mauro Uliassi (uliassi.com) for an inebriating culinary experience between land and sea.

Costume trends: five o'clock on the crest of the wave

Conero, room overlooking the bay

Forty minutes further south, in the bay of Portonovo, at the foot of Monte Conero, there is a famous meeting place for surfers: at the Conerostyle school (conerostyle.com) windsurfing and surfing courses are held, but also guided kayak excursions, wing foil sessions (which are practiced by holding an inflatable wing and taking advantage of the wind on board any board) and wind foil (which through aerodynamic appendages applied to the board windsurfers allow it to rise and fly over the water). All proposals for water sports enthusiasts.

The perfect day then ends with a dinner watching the sunset at the Clandestino susci bar (morenocedroni.it/clandestino), at the court of the starred chef Moreno Cedroni to experience a journey through international flavours, and the night in one of the junior suites of the SeeBay hotel (double from 165 euros, seebayhotel.com) to wake up admiring the sea up close.

Surfing on the waves of Ugento, in Puglia

Saying Adriatic, but also Ionian, immediately brings to mind the beautiful and sunny Puglia. A dive to discover the archaeological sites

The waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea also offer numerous possibilities for having fun on the surface of the water: in Naples, a heavenly place is the Submerged Park of Gaiola (areamarinaprotettagaiola.it, gaiola.org) where you can jump aboard theAquavision, a Ligurian fishing boat with a transparent bottom which allows you to enjoy the beauty of the seabed below, or, for a unique experience, you can snorkel among the underwater archaeological finds of the place, including the system of fishponds belonging to the villa of the Roman Knight Publius Vedio Pollione (1st century BC ).

Sicily: snorkeling and surfing

If you want to make a trip to Sicily from Naples, just buy a ticket for one of the Grimaldi Lines connections (grimaldi-lines.com), which takes passengers from Naples in an eight-hour journey by sea in Palermo: here, after a stop at Mondello beachyou can decide to leave again, this time relying on one of the guided tours of Gattinoni Travel (kittenonitravel.it) to the Aeolian Islands where you can indulge in regenerating baths and pleasant excursions.

Rent a dinghy, try your hand at sea baptism with an instructor diver or more comfortably treat yourself to an aperitif on a sailing boat by contacting Dreaming Sicily (dreamingsicily.it) of Palermo; but if you want to experience the sea like a true surfer, just write down the address of the San Leone Surf Tribe (facebook.com/sanleonesurftribe) Of Agrigento for surf courses also for beginners.
