Why does RB Salzburg hardly play a role in Austria anymore?
So “hardly a role” you can’t say as a runner -up, but the dominance is gone, that’s right.
This is what I suspect – with three things:
1) Since Jaissle’s inglorious departure to Moneytown, the right trainer has not been found. Struber didn’t deliver at all. Lijnders, in whom you had actually put quite high hopes due to your past, nor is even less. Then Letsch came and it got better recently, but just too late or it was still too unconstant to intervene in the championship race. Although in the end it became very tight. I’m curious to see if you will continue with him, but I assume, although he won’t go into the new season with a lot of loan.
2) There are currently good talents such as Gloukh, Baidoo, Kjaergaard or Konate, but the very big talents are currently not in the squad or Kjaergaard and Konate were recently seriously injured or are not that far to play a really leading role (Mellberg, for example).
3) The leading wolves, as it was last Junizovic, Ulmer, Pavlovic, Walke, Sucic or even Sesko were missing. This has to develop again at the moment and players like Kjaergaard or Bidstrup have to grow in again.
In addition, Sturm Graz does a damn good job for the past few years, it has not been hidden in Germany either; Although it does not (yet) work in the Hoffenheim – from the perspective of an Austrian.
I still think that Salzburg will get the championship again in the next few years, there is too much money and too much know-how there.
