The warning strike in the transport sector next Monday will also affect regional and S-Bahn transport in Berlin and Brandenburg.

The capital’s airport BER, on the other hand, is not under direct strike, as the Verdi union and the railway and transport union (EVG) announced on Thursday. Nevertheless, the effects of the warning strikes at other German airports are likely to be felt there.

Buses, trams and subways, on the other hand, operate in the capital. The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe are not affected by the warning strike. The BVG will not be on strike because its employees have a valid collective agreement, the transport company announced on Thursday.

This means that commuters have an alternative to the regional and S-Bahn services in the capital, which are likely to be at a standstill.

On Thursday, Verdi and EVG called for nationwide warning strikes in the transport sector for Monday. Long-distance and regional traffic is likely to come to a standstill across the country, as is air and shipping traffic. The motorway company is also affected, which is why tunnels could be closed in some places.
