Trainer Simone Inzaghi is looking forward to Internazionale’s home game against Liverpool in the eighth finals of the Champions League on Wednesday evening. Whether Stefan de Vrij is in the base with the Italians is still the question.
,,My players deserve to play these kind of duels,’ said the coach of De Vrij and Denzel Dumfries. “We are not favorites, but there are certainly opportunities for us.”
Internazionale won the Champions League in 2010, starring Wesley Sneijder. The club has not managed to hibernate in the premier class of European club football for the past ten years.
Inzaghi praised the Liverpool forwards. “But they also have great wingers with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson,” said the trainer of the current number 2 of the Serie A.
Inzaghi did not comment on De Vrij, who has not been in the best shape in recent weeks. According to Italian newspapers, there is a chance that he will temporarily lose his starting place. Inter did not go further than 1-1 against Napoli last Saturday, partly because De Vrij caused a penalty.
