Starfish are ‘heads without bodies’ that crawl across the ocean floor

Starfish are fascinating animals. They can protrude their stomachs to eat their prey and they move with thousands of tube feet on the undersides of their arms. They can even shed such an arm to escape a predator, and later grow it back. But new research shows they may have an even stranger trait: the lack of a physique. So according to science, they are just heads that can crawl.
