Manchester City faced Sporting away in the first leg of the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The goals that brought the victory to the English team were scored by Riyad Mahrez in the 9th minute, Bernardo Silva in the 18th and 45th minutes, Phil Foden in the 32nd minute and Raheem Sterling in the 58th minute.
With this result, Manchester City largely secured the quarter-finals before the return match. The return match between the two teams will be played on 9 March in England.
