SpaceX launches Falcon 9 rocket with Italian radar satellite

The American company SpaceX launched the Falcon 9 launch vehicle with the Italian COSMO-Skymed radar satellite. About it reported on the company’s Twitter page.

The rocket was launched at 18:11 US East Coast time (02:11 Moscow time Tuesday) from the site of the Space Center. John F. Kennedy in Florida. An hour after the launch, the satellite entered low Earth orbit.

Initially, the launch was supposed to take place on January 27, but it was postponed three times due to adverse weather conditions. For the fourth time, the launch was postponed due to the appearance of an extraneous vessel in the launch zone, SpaceX said.

COSMO–Skymed satellite developed at the Italian Space Agency (ASI). Its main task is to monitor the situation in the Mediterranean region. The satellite will join the orbital constellation of similar spacecraft CSG-1, CSG-3 and CSG-4.
