South Africa: Ernst Middendorp takes over Cape Town Spurs

Return to South Africa

After his short-term stint at Singida Big Stars FC in Tanzania, Ernst Middendorp is heading to South Africa again. The 65-year-old is supposed to save Cape Town Spurs FC from relegation. The promoted team is in last place in the DStv Premiership with just three points from eleven games. This is Middendorp’s twelfth coaching position in South Africa.

“When you bring in someone with his great experience in the PSL and his knowledge of South African football, it is always good for the club and the players,” said technical director Sean Connor. “He is the right man for this task and knows what to expect. He knows many of the players and knows what’s important.”
