Soil of the Gistel fire station contaminated

The OVAM report speaks of soil pollution at the barracks itself, and also at an adjacent lawn. Behind the fire station are still a petrol and a diesel tank in the ground. These are now out of use, but leaks in the past have polluted the groundwater. There would be no threat in the short term, but a clean-up will be necessary.

Another investigation is also underway in Gistel into the presence of PFAS due to the use of old fire-fighting foam.
