Minister Marjolein Faber today informed the House of Representatives by letter about cost -saving changes in the asylum reception. The adjustments are in line with the coalition agreement and fit within the European Reception Directive.

Asylum seekers from now on will not receive a catering but will cook themselves; The central meal provision disappears. In addition, asylum seekers with their own income or assets will contribute to their healthcare costs.

The daily in-house registration is also carried out stricter and the rights and duty interview is given more weight. Asylum seekers are now clearly informed about the consequences of a negative decision.

Faber:

“I send a sober shelter with clear rules. Everyone has to adhere to the duties. It is not a luxury holiday resort.”

The COA works out the measures. The full letter can be found on ASSOCHING Asylum shelter | Lower House of the States General
