Ski World Cup: Zagreb Slalom also canceled Thursday – Alpine skiing – winter sports

Cancellation after 19 runners

After less than 20 out of more than 60 athletes, the organizers decided to cancel. Before that, the race had to be interrupted again and again because of new preparations. In the first 60 minutes after starting runner Sebastian Foss Solevaag, only 19 runners made it onto the piste – after 20 minutes of further discussions, the decision to cancel followed.

Kristoffersen: “This is not a world cup”

“The snow is very soft, it’s very difficult. I don’t think the slope will hold”, had already been critical of the front runner Foss Solevaag in the sports show before the demolition. “It’s like spring”, said the Swiss Roman Zenhäusern, who with the low starting number three was in the meantime in second place. Former overall slalom winner Henrik Kristioffersen scolded: “This is not a World Cup. And the conditions are getting even worse”said the Norwegian in the sports show. “I don’t want to be so critical this season, but the FIS people don’t have a sure instinct. The conditions on the slopes are not good. Today is no better than yesterday. Everything is chaos now. This is not a World Cup.”

Straßer: “This is a fight” “

Linus Straßer, who finished ninth with car number 14 and was aiming for his best position of the season, said immediately after his run: “I’m not entirely sure that it will continue. This is a fight, it doesn’t feel so good.” Nevertheless, the 29-year-old was able to gain good things from his run and the slopes. “I’m someone who likes that kind of thing. But it’s at the start, so I didn’t know where I was. One goal was missing, they still put one in. While driving it felt like I was driving with number 60 and not number 14. But I enjoyed it, it was cool to drive. “

Postponement from Wednesday to Thursday

The World Cup on Zagreb’s local mountain Medvenica, the longest of the season with 71 goals, was postponed from Wednesday to Thursday in poor weather conditions. It had snowed during the night, but when the temperature was around zero, the slope was not ready for the World Cup.

While Straßer was at least allowed to hit the slopes, Anton Tremmel (start number 39), Julian Rauchfuß (49) and Fabian Himmelsbach (50) were denied a start on Thursday.
