Ski jumping: Eisenbichler and Geiger in Willingen on a podium course – ski jumping – winter sports

Geiger and Eisenbichler on a course to make amends

Karl Geiger was also able to make amends and finished fifth with 139.5 meters. On Saturday, Geiger and Eisenbichler were still disappointing with 20th and 30th place in difficult wind conditions. Slovenia’s Cene Prevc is currently in the lead with a brilliant leap over 148 meters (130.9 points). Second is Daiko Ito from Japan (144.5 meters/127.9 points).

His lead wasn’t so good yesterday. The jump today wasn’t perfect, but ok“said national coach Stefan Horngacher ZDF to Eisenbichler’s jump and was also pleased with Geiger’s reaction. “Karl sorted it out well. It was the external conditions yesterday. Now we’re going to see if we can get the second jump down as well.

Leyhe, Wellinger and Freund also in the final

In addition to Geiger and Eisenbichler, three other DSV jumpers are in the second round. Stephan Leyhe is 22, Andreas Wellinger finished three places behind. Severin Freund, who had shone in fourth place in the presentation, had to settle for 26th place.

Pius Paschke did not get a good jump again and missed the final round as 33rd. Despite ideal conditions, Constantin Schmid did not make it into the top 30 either and was disappointing in the penultimate place.

Kobayashi only in twelfth place

After jumping on Saturday was more like a lottery due to the weather conditions, the wind influenced the jumps again on Sunday. The Austrian Thomas Lackner was able to make good use of the conditions and with 141 meters he put down the first top distance of the day. Shortly thereafter, Ito added 3.5 meters.

The Slovenian Cene Precv was the first to break the 145 meter mark and took the lead with a brilliant jump of 148 meters. Yesterday’s winner, Ryoyu Kobayashi, couldn’t counter the distance either. The leader in the overall World Cup struggled with crosswinds and is only twelfth at 128 meters.
