Ski flying: DSV-Adler far back at the World Cup in Norway – ski jumping – winter sports

Geiger as the best DSV eagle in 13th place

The best of the quintet coached by national coach Stefan Horngacher is defending champion Geiger. The man from Oberstdorf is 13th after the first two jumps. The first jump was already far from the top at 209 meters. In the second round there was a strong tailwind and Geiger landed at 199 meters.

“Unfortunately, nothing went together”said Geiger in the sports show: “Unfortunately, the competition jumps were simply the worst, which annoys me extremely.” The national coach didn’t want to blame the external conditions either and said: “He has to hold his own nose.”

Freund, Schmid and Wellinger in a pack of three

Directly behind Geiger are Severin Freund (206.5/209 meters), Constantin Schmid (206/206 meters) and Andreas Wellinger (216.5/187.5 meters) in positions 14 to 16. Wellinger was also unlucky in the second round with the wind, but confessed in the sports show that the jump was not good either: “And if you don’t jump perfectly, you’re lost in the wind.”

Markus Eisenbichler is even further behind in 22nd place. The Bavarian had bad conditions in the first round and ended up at 185 meters. In the second it went a little further with 204.5 meters, but Eisenbichler summed it up honestly: “It was just sh… it was really pathetic what I did.”

Duel for gold: Lindvik vs. Kraft

An exciting fight unfolds between the Austrian Stefan Kraft and the Norwegian Marius Lindvik. The large hill Olympic champion Lindvik leads after jumps on 232.5 and 226.5 meters with six and a half points ahead of the ski flying world record holder Kraft (225.5/230 meters). Behind is a resurrected Domen Prevc from Slovenia (231.5/222.5 meters).

The decision at the World Cup will be made on Sunday (March 13, 2022) from 4:30 p.m. with rounds three and four. In addition to the top three, the other Slovenians Timi Zajc, Anze Lanisek and Peter Prevc also have realistic chances of a medal.
