The negotiations surrounding Markus Krösche’s departure are apparently gaining momentum: several Italian media are reporting that an agreement between the Eintracht sports board and AC Milan could be imminent.

According to Italian media reports, the move from Eintracht Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche to AC Milan is getting closer. According to a report by “Gazzetta dello Sport”, the 45-year-old and his confidant Timmo Hardung are in “advanced negotiations” with the top Italian club.

The first reports of interest in Krösche in Italy emerged at the weekend. The Eintracht environment initially reacted calmly – also because Krösche said at his season-ending PK, that he wasn’t one to run away. In doing so, he had essentially given the club his word.

Gazzetta sees “Markus Krösche has a clear advantage”

But now the topic is apparently gaining momentum. Sky Italia reported that Milan bosses Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were in contact with Frankfurt. However, according to hr-sport information, this is not the case so far. Transfer expert Matteo Moretto even speaks of a verbal agreement between Krösche and Milan.

“After the coaching question has been clarified, the next piece of the puzzle should be the technical director, with Markus Krösche having a clear advantage,” writes “Gazzetta”. According to media reports, the new head coach will be the Portuguese Ruben Amorim (most recently Manchester United).

Krösche himself has not yet commented on the reports. Instead, the chairman of the supervisory board, Mathias Beck, said in the Bild newspaper on Monday: “There was no one from AC Milan who approached us about Markus Krösche.” And further: “After consulting with Markus Krösche, we as the main committee of Eintracht Frankfurt have no indication that he would like to leave Eintracht before the end of his contract term in 2028.”

Krösche currently doesn’t have one Get out clause

In the last Bundesliga season, Eintracht, who have now brought Adi Hütter back as head coach, missed taking part in an international competition under Spaniard Albert Riera. Riera is considered Krösche’s mistake. Krösche’s contract in Frankfurt runs until 2028; according to hr-sport information, he currently does not have an exit clause.

The need at AC Milan, on the other hand, is comparatively great: after a disappointing season with missing out on the Champions League places in Serie A, Milan had to leave not only coach Massimiliano Allegri, but also the managing director, the sports director and the technical director.
