Skater Dai Dai N’tab is missing from Games, Irene Schouten rides four distances

A bitter pill for Dai Dai N’tab. The Amsterdammer has to miss the Winter Olympics for the second time in a row. The 27-year-old sprinter is not part of the skating team, which was just announced. Merijn Scheperkamp has been given the redeeming yes-word and Irene Schouten can prepare for four distances.

N’tab had his sights set on the 500 meters. At that distance, however, he became trumped by the young Scheperkamp. N’tab had to deal with setbacks in both his rides: the first time his opponent fell and the second time his opponent started wrong. Scheperkamp is dependent on the 500 meters.

Skaters were already certain of qualification at various distances, but Scheperkamp and N’tab (500 meters) were both in the waiting room. On Sunday it became clear that the Hilversummer, who was the fastest in the OKT, can go to the Games and N’tab is again excluded.

Four times Schouten

There are no surprises to report for the women. Irene Schouten, who was in great shape at the OKT, will go on the on behalf of the Netherlands 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters to Beijing. Participation at that distance was already known.

The KNSB has also appointed Schouten for the mass start. Schouten will drive it together with Marijke Groenewoud. The Hoogkarspelse will also drive the team pursuit together with Ireen Wüst and Antoinette de Jong.
