In the run-up to the Olympic Games, Sifan Hassan is also running a spring marathon. On Sunday, March 3, the 30-year-old athlete will participate in the Tokyo Marathon. Eliud Kipchoge, the men’s world record holder for many years, also announced his participation today.
Hassan has great memories of the Japanese capital. In the summer of 2021, Hassan became Olympic champion in the 5000 and 10,000 meters in Tokyo. The distances she will run at the Games in Paris next summer will remain unknown for a long time. A unique combination between the track and the road is emerging.
With her impressive victories in London and Chicago she has proven that she is also one of the absolute world top athletes over 42 kilometers and 195 meters. Tokyo will be the third marathon for Hassan, who was still unsure about the long distance in April. After recovering from the marathon in Tokyo, her preparation for the track season will begin.
