Day number 14 gets to the heart of things, after the previews, with all three groups on the Saturday programme. Here are the main ideas.

Cittadella doesn’t stop anymore: against Arzignano comes the sixth victory in a row, thanks to the first goal among professionals by defender Cecchetto which brings Iori to provisional fourth place with 24 points. After four draws, Lumezzane smiles again by giving Pro Vercelli another away defeat. For Triestina the first victory under Tesser’s management fades again: at the Nereo Rocco Trento extends its positive streak to 9 games, equalizing Gunduz’s initial lead with Dalmonte in full recovery. Among tomorrow’s matches Ospitaletto-Brescia, expected derby at 12.30: by decision of the prefect Polichetti only the residents of Ospitaletto will be able to attend the match, a measure that disappoints both organized fans.

Ascoli’s run starts again, passing to Rimini with the deadly one-two from Damiani and Gori at the end of the first half (on the second goal, with the complicity of goalkeeper Vitali). But the match at the end was tainted by an ugly episode of racism: racist insults towards guests Rizzo and Guiebre, which forced the referee Di Loreto to suspend the match for a few minutes and have the speaker make an appeal. Bruzzaniti’s seventh center allows Pineto (sixth consecutive useful result) to beat and overtake Carpi in the standings, who missed the penalty for a possible equalizer with Cortesi. In the match between two in-form teams, Vis Pesaro overturns Guidonia who had taken the lead with Example: Berengo’s goal – followed by that of captain Di Paola – puts an end to Mazzi’s unbeaten run which had lasted for 250 minutes. Samb and Ternana fail to score, while Alfonso Greco – returning to the Torres bench – starts again with a draw against Perugia (who still moves up the table under Tedesco’s management).

Another twist in the fight at the top: Catania, who arrived very fast (5 wins in the last 6), fell on the Casarano pitch thanks to Cajazzo’s breakout after 8′ (Vito Di Bari’s team had just suffered four defeats in a row). The summit thus returns within the reach of Salernitana engaged in Altamura, but also of Benevento which hosts Monopoli (with the debut on the bench of Floro Flores, after the dismissal of Auteri). In the meantime, keep an eye out for Cosenza’s rise, which temporarily catches Benevento in third place: in Latina comes the third victory in the last four for Buscè, thanks to Mazzocchi’s quick start following a cue from Florenzi. Crotone shows other signs of recovery after the draw in Salerno: against Sorrento there is a return to victory (Gomez scores from the spot, joining Chiricò on 9 goals), with Mirko Conte’s bench thus ending up under observation. At the end, a blow from Siracusa who wins in Picerno and leaves the Lucanians in last place (the general manager Vincenzo Greco thundered: “Indecent match, Bertotto is not in question, but I saw a team without a spine on the pitch and therefore choices will have to be made on the men”).
