Schalke: Ferryman adviser criticizes rice – Müller agent reacts

Response to criticism of Reis

Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann’s advisor has complained about his client’s current reserve role. “It is unacceptable and incomprehensible that you are now making a change again – without also communicating it clearly with Ralf. This is how a Schalke legend is destroyed,” Stefan Backs said in the “sports picture‘ give vent to his anger.

Update Aug 30 1:38pm: Statements that were less well received by the advisor to ferryman’s competitor Marius Müller. “The bottom line is that a consultant is trying to create unrest in the club through public pressure in order to put his interests ahead of those of the club. A more than questionable course of action,” Müller’s advisor Dirk Pietroschinsky told dpa when asked.

The 34-year-old veteran ferryman had missed the first competitive games this season due to injury and was replaced by newcomer Müller (30), who came from FC Luzern. Müller convinced and was one of the few bright spots in the Bundesliga relegated team in Schalke’s disappointing performances at the start of the second division season. That’s why Schalke coach Thomas Reis continued to rely on Müller between the posts even after Fährmann’s recovery – in two league games so far, both of which Schalke lost.

Schalke veteran ferryman: Only six German keepers were more valuable

The keeper, who has been trained with the Royal Blues since 2003 and has meanwhile moved to Eintracht Frankfurt and on loan to Norwich and Brann, is the only professional still active in the top 20 record players of the traditional club. With 15 Bundesliga seasons, he is by far the longest-serving Schalke player in the upper house, but Fährmann only played six games in the 2nd Bundesliga during his career. With a maximum market value of 13 million euros achieved in 2018, the 1.97 meter giant is one of the most valuable German goalkeepers in history – only six other goalkeepers in this country have ever had a higher market value.

While Fährmann did not comment on the current situation himself, advisor Backs continued to judge his client: “The club has made the mistake of changing the goalkeeper several times, including two years ago when Martin Fraisl played. And I believe that Ralf showed in the past first division season that he is much better. Ralf was one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga recently.”
