Sami Helenius told about Brett Hull’s special way.
Sami Helenius, 52, who played in North America for nine years, remembered one of the hardest goal scorers in NHL history, Brett Hull, during Iltalehti’s live broadcast.
Helenius and Hull played together for the Dallas Stars in the 2000-2001 season. The Finn, known as a tough guy in Kaukalo, said that he quickly paid attention to at least one thing in Hull.
– He didn’t look terribly athletic without a shirt, Helenius laughed on the broadcast.
Helenius continued how the Yankee legend also had his own pastimes during the initial training sessions.
You can watch the entire reminiscence in the video at the beginning.
“Great guy and player”
In the broadcast, the Finn also recalled a colorful situation in which Hull, Russian defender Sergei Zubov and then Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock were involved.
– Brett shouts that “thick ass, go back where you came from”.
Helenius played 155 NHL games in his career. He scored 2+4 in the matches, in addition to which he accumulated 260 minutes on the ice. On the AHL side, Helenius accumulated 296 games and 925 ice minutes.
Hull scored 741 goals in the regular season in his NHL career. He is the NHL’s fifth all-time leading scorer.
