Russian who urinates on portrait of war veteran gets four years in prison | Abroad

Matvey Louferov is said to have urinated on the portrait of a Russian veteran of World War II, in eastern Moscow. The court ruled that he had violated the law that prohibits rehabilitation of Nazism. According to the prosecutor’s office, Louferov also filmed how he vandalized the portrait at a war memorial. He then shared the video on the internet.

The young man has confessed to the facts and says he was drunk at the time and regrets it. The prosecutor had asked for five years in prison, the maximum for such a crime. It ended up being four years. Louferov is to serve his sentence in a penal colony for insulting the memory of the defenders of the homeland, it says.
