Finding out if a person has COVID can now be done in 30 minutes. The Ministry of Defense presented a new way of testing. It’s not PCR, it’s easier and safer.
Lamb testing is not yet well-known, but will definitely come into circulation soon. This method is used to diagnose tuberculosis, hepatitis and many other diseases. Thanks to Russian military doctors, he is now adapted to detect covid.
Outwardly, the procedure is the same, as with PCR, the sampling of biomaterial is the same. The technology of analysis is changing. For example, the stage of sample preparation is excluded.
“The advantage is that there is no preparation for the analysis, which takes a long time, takes up additional equipment, capacities, and requires additional consumables or assets. The time for the analysis itself has been reduced to 30 minutes,” says Andrey Kuznetsovsky, deputy head of branch 48 of the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Today, doctors from more than 20 regions are trained in the laboratory. We watch them work in real time. At the same time, the amount of necessary equipment for testing is minimal, which means that more medical centers will be able to switch to this system. Early detection of the virus is an important step in the fight against infection. The sooner a person is treated, the lower the risk of complications and, most importantly, mortality.
“It is possible to carry out analysis with this set of reagents in any laboratory that has equipment for PCR,” says Alexander Manoshkin, deputy head of department 48 of the research institute of the Ministry of Defense.
– What is the reason for this?
– The study takes place on the same equipment, on the same software and does not visually differ much.
During the pandemic, military doctors have made a huge contribution to the fight against the virus. Specialists from the Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense participated in the development of the first Russian vaccine, Sputnik V.
The new scientific development is unique, it is already known that there is no analogue of such a set of reagents in any country.
The reagents have already been registered with the healthcare system. In the near future, all medical centers will be able to operate under a new, simplified and fast testing system. The production capacity is sufficient for the supply of reagent kits to all cities of Russia.
