Yvon Mvogo made a mistake with AZ’s winning goal. The goalkeeper was allowed to start from Schmidt, who has lost confidence in Joël Drommel after a series of lesser performances. “He deserved to play,” Schmidt said of Mvogo. “Unfortunately, he made a mistake. And that’s a shame, because we were better at the time. We played better and more aggressively than just before half-time. We controlled the match. After that we tried everything. But unfortunately we were not able to score.”
Schmidt thought that his team had put a lot of energy into the match against AZ. “We have done everything we can. Now we have to be there again on Tuesday against NAC. That will be an important cup match.”

Captain Gakpo thinks PSV will continue to give everything
Cody Gakpo is not afraid that Schmidt’s announcement to leave PSV at the end of the season will be detrimental to the Eindhoven club. “We have to keep playing as a team. Everyone just gives 100 percent,” he said.
“But too often in big games we don’t give home,” Gakpo realized in front of the ESPN camera. „We wanted to recover after the defeat against Ajax two weeks ago. But we run into two unfortunate goals. That is sour.”
