National soccer player Robin Gosens will miss his club AC Florenz’s upcoming guest appearance in Germany.
As the Italians announced, the 31-year-old must play in the Conference League game against FSV Mainz 05 on Thursday (6:45 p.m./RTL+) due to a strain in his left thigh. According to Corriere dello Sport, Gosens is still being examined, but it is very likely that he will be out until the international break on November 9th.
This means he would not only miss the away game in Mainz, but also the league game against Genoa.
Gosens’ loss is bad news for Fiorentina, who are currently struggling with significant problems. The club is in a crisis: After ten match days, the Tuscan team is in last place in the Serie A table with just four points – dramatic for a team that invested around 90 million euros in additions in the summer and actually wanted to play for the Champions League places.
Because of the sporting misery, coach Stefano Pioli is under massive pressure. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, club owner Rocco Commisso, who has already invested half a billion euros in the club since 2019, is urging Pioli to resign. However, he refuses to resign from his position – also because of alleged differences over severance pay. According to the report, Commisso is said to be eyeing former Empoli coach Roberto D’Aversa as a possible successor.
