Retail vacancy has fallen sharply due to conversion to housing

The retail vacancy rate in the Netherlands fell sharply last year, reports research agency Locatus. A possible reason for that decline is that many buildings have been converted into homes, the retail information company says. According to Locatus, it is therefore not the case that there is “a thriving retail sector”, which is suffering from the consequences of the corona pandemic and lockdown measures.
