Regional transport is going to strike, much fewer buses in a large part of the province on Saturday

The FNV trade union has announced a 24-hour public transport strike in a large part of North Holland for Saturday. The strike at carrier Connexxion is in the regions of Amstelland-Meerlanden (which also includes Schiphol), Haarlem-IJmond and the Zaanstreek. The strike will also be on Saturday at carrier EBS. This concerns the Waterland region (including around Purmerend, Edam and Volendam).

It is not yet clear which and how many rides will be cancelled. According to EBS, travelers should keep in mind that their bus is most likely not running. Night buses also do not run in the night of 11 to 12 June. The local buses do run according to the normal timetable. Carrier Connexxion recommends that you plan your journey as soon as possible before departure, so that you are not faced with any surprises.

Negotiations

Employers and trade unions in regional transport have been negotiating a new collective labor agreement for some time now. At the beginning of February, the employers submitted a final offer to the unions. The CNV union agreed to this, but the FNV rejected the offer. Since then, the union has been campaigning across the country.
