RECONSTRUCTION. This is how the government came up with a mixture of proposals: “Ego issue stood in the way of sustainable reform”

After 3 weeks of bidding and ideas, the government has nevertheless reached an agreement with which it will reduce the derailed energy bill: a mixture of a temporary VAT reduction on electricity, plus a “heating check” of 100 euros to also do something for those who heating gas or fuel oil. A compromise that is defensible for all, “but a lasting reform failed because of an ego issue.”
