Reception parents ask Minister Beke for a solution for rising energy bills | Money

Child-minding parents must deduct the costs for energy and heating from their expense allowance of 21.98 euros per day per child they care for. But, the union argues, energy prices weigh extra heavily on organizing childcare.

“Putting the heating down a degree or two during the ten hours that the children are present is not an option,” the union said. “The situation is becoming untenable and unaffordable.”

Child-minding parents threaten to drop out, which threatens to increase the acute shortage of childcare. The sector is asking Minister Beke to work out a solution urgently. Letting childminders work in a normal status with a permanent contract and a decent salary would be the best solution, the union emphasizes.
