Racist hostilities: fan insults against Boyd – Hansa announces consequences

After the verbal hostilities against Terrence Boyd from 1. FC Kaiserslautern, FC Hansa Rostock has announced the consequences. Hansa CEO Robert Marien apologized on behalf of the club and wants to meet with several fan representatives.

At the meeting today, the serious racist insult should be worked up, the club said. When the two clubs met on Friday (2-0 for Kaiserslautern), FCK striker Boyd was insulted by the ranks of the Hansa supporters with the words “fucking bastard”, as TV pictures show. Because the insult was expressed via a megaphone, the so-called capos on the south stand are the main suspects. These are followers who start and control the fan chants and choreographies via megaphone. Another Hansa fan who was standing in the immediate vicinity of a megaphone may also be responsible.

Marien calls Boyd and apologizes

Hansa CEO Marien contacted Boyd after the incident became known and asked for an apology on behalf of the club. “Thank you very much for that and I told him that with fan violence it can always be the case that there are a few people/activities that do not represent the club’s values,” Boyd wrote on Twitter late on Saturday after Marien called.

Boyd: ‘It’s over for me’

Boyd had scored both goals for Lautern in the game in Rostock, after his second goal the 31-year-old was loudly racially insulted by a person from the Hansa block, which can also be heard in the TV broadcast. “It’s always easier to destroy than to build up. Something like that is difficult to prevent with thousands of visitors and can happen anywhere. For me, that’s the end of it and I wish Hansa Rostock all the best,” Boyd wrote.
