The coming year will be dedicated to the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, follows from the decree signed by the President of the country Vladimir Putin. Document published on the portal of legal information.

“(The decision was made) in order to popularize folk art and preserve cultural traditions, historical and cultural monuments, ethnocultural diversity, cultural identity of all peoples and ethnic communities,” the document says.

The President instructed the government to form an organizing committee in two months, as well as develop and approve a plan of the main events for the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.

Putin supported the proposal to declare 2022 the Year of Cultural Heritage back in November 2019. At a meeting of the Council for Interethnic Relations, he noted the need to fill the program of the year “well and meaningfully” and take into account the peculiarities of each region of Russia.
