The new strain of the coronavirus “omicron” is spreading much faster than “delta”, said the head physician of the hospital in Kommunarka Denis Protsenko. The clinic, which took over the very first wave of coronavirus cases, is again preparing to receive patients. This time, incoming patients are increasingly infected with the omicron strain, which has replaced the delta strain.
Protsenko admitted that he would give “a piece of himself” for this wave of covid to be the last. Speaking at the Gaidar Forum, the physician shared his observations. According to his estimates, “omicron” is not very difficult for patients, there are fewer cases of rapid deterioration of the state with “delta”. However, this is not a reason to relax, as the omicron is spreading much more rapidly.
For Protsenko, it is obvious that neither the whole of Russia nor Moscow alone will be able to avoid the new strain. The doctors of his clinic are already ready for the omicron, the beds are deployed, the supply of medical oxygen is sufficient… Protsenko once again called on Russians to get vaccinated. This is the only way to achieve the end of the pandemic, he is sure.
