Promes, other troubles: he is accused of having imported 1300 kg of cocaine

The two lots, of about 650 and 713 kilos, were intercepted at the end of January 2020 in the port of Antwerp in Belgium. The striker is already on trial in the Netherlands for the stabbing of a cousin

Quincy Promes’ name is once again in the dock. Already on trial in the Netherlands for the stabbing of a cousin, the 31-year-old from Spartak Moscow is now in the crosshairs of justice for smuggling hundreds of kilos of drugs worth several million euros. The attacking winger is in fact accused of having imported more than 1300 kilos of cocaine with a contemporary. The hearing of the former Ajax and Dutch international player will be held next Monday. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, these are two lots of about 650 kilos and 713 kilos, which at the end of January 2020 were intercepted in the port of Antwerp in Belgium. The National Drug Monitor estimated that the turnover of the parties involved would have been around 75 million euros.

Court hearing

The judicial Via Crucis of Promes is thus enriched with a new chapter. Dutch media report that the footballer will not be present at the hearing due to contractual obligations with his club. But, as explained by the Public Prosecutor, “the case can be handled by the court without his presence but with a lawyer authorized by him”.
