New ‘old’ date spring 2023
If you learn one thing in the trade fair business, it’s flexibility!! The SHOES DÜSSELDORF, which was successfully held in August, will be postponed by one week for the new spring 2023 order round. The reason for this: at the same time, the Euroshop – The World’s No.1 Retail Trade Fair – which only takes place every three years – takes place on the grounds of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and is accompanied by exorbitantly high hotel prices (increases of up to 70%).
Ulrike Kähler, Managing Director of the Igedo Company and responsible for SHOES DÜSSELDORF, repeatedly heard massive complaints from exhibitors about the much too high hotel room prices in Düsseldorf for the end of February 2023 on her tours of the exhibition halls on the Areal Böhler As the organizer, I am of course aware of this problem, but it has never been so massive. Apparently, the hotels are trying to get back the lost sales as quickly as possible during the pandemic.” Ms. Kähler dares to doubt whether this is the right tactic. Alone, you can’t change the pricing policy of the hotel industry, of course. And so the Igedo Company has decided, in the interests and for the benefit of its exhibitors and visitors, to go back to the original date of 05.-07. March 2023 to go.
“Due to the very complex and tight calendar in the shoe industry, we will slightly adjust the opening times for the running days March 5th – 7th, 2023,” Ulrike Kähler continues.

As a reminder: the Igedo Company had deliberately pushed the date of SHOES DÜSSELDORF forward by one week (February 26-28, 2023) due to the existing supply chain problems in the shoe industry in order to give those involved in the industry more time and planning security. So now back to the original and of course proven date. “We want our exhibitors to feel comfortable in Düsseldorf and to enjoy coming to us. This also includes reasonable hotel room prices, which is extremely important to us in this case,” says Ulrike Kähler, who assumes that all exhibitors and visitors will find their way to Düsseldorf with the date now chosen.
