Breast cancer: a tennis tournament and free visits on September 18th

THEl tennis as a metaphor for the continuous and precious exchange between doctor and patient, research and solidarity to promote research and the prevention of breast cancer. Each of us can actively participate in this “exchange” by not turning away.

Appointment on Sunday 18 September at the Tennis Club Milano Bonacossa for the second edition of UNA RACQUETTA PER LA VITA, a women’s doubles charity tournament created from an idea by Viviana Galimberti, Director of the Surgical Breast Division of the IEO-European Institute of Oncology to remember the importance of cancer prevention and collect donations in support of the IEO-MONZINO Foundation. And also to support the search for Women’s Cancer Center, the multidisciplinary and multifunctional center for women of the IEO, dedicated to women’s health as a whole.

Tennis and breast cancer: female doctors on the court

The day of the squad matches on September 18th includes matches of 12 couples, made up of IEO professionals, other doctors who have wished to support this special initiative, patients and former patients. A shared game to remind you that to win the game you need to be tuned to the common goal: the patient’s well-being, as far as possible, his recovery or at least not suffering.

A racket for life.

Breast examination open and free

Dr. Galimberti decided to reserve the day also for the field prevention: from 10.00 to 16.30 are scheduled open and free breast examinations, in the presence of IEO specialists who will be available to all those who wish. For this second appointment with A RACKET FOR LIFE the prevention activities are expanded and will be available to everyone too free consultations, thanks to the availability of additional IEO specialists present at the Tennis Club: geneticist, oncologist-dermatologist, dietician, plastic-reconstructive surgeon, physiotherapist and gynecologist.

Early stage breast cancer: new techniques

Raffaella Reggi, journalist and former tennis player of international fame – known for the bronze medal won at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 – also for this second edition of A RACKET FOR LIFE has gladly accepted to return to referee the matches of the tennis players who on September 18th they will give their best in the pink competition.

A concert for Life

After the sporting day, the Bonacossa Club will host A concert for Life, a fundraising jazz evening, the proceeds of which will be donated to the IEO-MONZINO Foundation in support of the IEO Women’s Cancer Center. A special concert dedicated to music and solidarity, with the extraordinary participation of vocalist Danila Satragno and musician Antonio Zambrini at the piano, teachers of the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan. In support of the day and the evening, Sesto Autoveicoli and Tassoni.
