Plot twist: there is still good hope for cinemas in Amstelveen, many parties are interested

It will probably still be possible to see a film on the silver screen in Amstelveen in the long term. Since the deal between Amstelveen and Pathé collapsed last year, several parties have informed the municipality that they want to fill the gap.

The plans for a cinema have been there for years, but due to sharply increased construction and energy costs, Pathé withdrew last year. The municipality already announced at the time that it would still be looking for candidates who wanted to operate a cinema concept.

There are plenty of those candidates, it turns out from the press release of the municipality. Because the City Heart should become more lively, the municipality wants it to become a ‘major crowd puller’ that ‘also serves a younger target group’. Preference is therefore given to a combination of cinema and other entertainment.

A market survey will follow soon, in which the municipality will discuss their ideas with the companies concerned.
