Tensions on the border with Ukraine are excessive, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with CNN, an excerpt of which published on the Twitter account of The Hill newspaper.

“There is too much tension on the border with Ukraine, too much tension in this part of Europe. This automatically creates many problems, which is extremely dangerous for our continent,” Peskov said.

It is for this reason that Russia insists on concrete steps on strategic security treaties, Peskov said. In his opinion, only the signing of agreements can guarantee the detente of the situation around Ukraine.

Negotiations between Russia and the US, NATO and the OSCE. Main statements

Negotiations between Russia and the US and NATO on security treaties took place on 9, 10 and 12 January. The parties failed to agree on the non-expansion of NATO to the east and the non-inclusion of Ukraine into the alliance. The non-expansion of NATO was Russia’s main demand.
