The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an instrument of confrontation, not a dove of peace. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with CNN.

“NATO in our understanding is an organization that was created for confrontation, not protection. And NATO is not a dove of peace, stability and prosperity. And this weapon of confrontation moved closer and closer to our borders every day, ”Peskov said (quoted from “RIA News”).

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia does not have the habit of “calling” other countries into its allies, as is the case in the West. According to him, the habit of “calling to oneself” exists in particular among the NATO countries. “This is not our method. We are polite people,” Lavrov said.

The minister believes that in the coming months, NATO could build up forces near the Russian borders under the pretext of a possible threat of an “invasion” of Ukraine.
