A woman is the third person in the world to be cured of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The patient was given new treatment with umbilical cord blood from a donor because she had leukemia, the New York Times reported. The woman also received blood from a relative. According to scientists, the new treatment offers the possibility to cure more patients from different ethnic backgrounds.
