Two people were locked up for a few hours yesterday in a jammed elevator in a newly completed apartment complex on the Hilversumse Bussumerstraat. They could not be removed until well after midnight.
The two pressed the alarm button just before ten o’clock. Firefighters responded quickly, but were unable to help the two immediately. The two could not be freed until 1 a.m.
It took so long because the arrival time of the mechanic turned out to be one and a half hours, a spokesman for the fire service said. Fortunately, the people in the elevator were fine. “Of course it is always annoying to be stuck for a long time. The fire brigade stayed with it until they could get out of the elevator again.”
The shock must have been good, but as far as we know, the people in the elevator are doing well.
