The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Oosterveldlaan in Wilrijk. “A drunk passenger was eating sunflower seeds on the bus. The driver spoke to him about this and asked him to wear his mouth mask. The man then started berating and beating him. The bus driver called the police and locked the doors of the bus, preventing him from fleeing. Afterwards, the driver had to take several blows,” says Willem Migom of the Antwerp police zone.
When the police arrived, the man was still aggressive. “During the arrest, the officers were also beaten and threatened. The man was eventually taken away handcuffed. He was brought before the investigating judge today,” said Migom.
