The headquarters calls on the employees of the multinational logistics company to stop for one hour in each of the shifts to protest against “the insufficient protection of occupational health suffered by the workforce”
The Union CCOO Has summoned partial strike in all centers amazon in Spain during the next few days November 27 and 28. The strikes coincide with the discount day of the Cyber Monday and can also make it difficult to return operations for products purchased the previous week, during the Black Friday. The headquarters calls on the employees of the logistics multinational to stop for one hour in each of the shifts to protest against “the insufficient protection of occupational health suffered by the workforce”, in addition to other salary demands.
The logistics giant Amazon employs, through its 30 centers spread throughout the country, about 20,000 workers. Currently its warehouses are immersed in one of the busiest times of the entire year, accumulating stock to cover the peaks in demand expected for these dates and also looking at Christmas shopping.
The unions are aware that a call for strikes can affect the giant’s ability to meet its commitments to its clients and they act accordingly.
CCOO complains about problems regarding job security. “We have verified, together with the Labor Inspectionthat the Accident and Incident Management system implemented by Amazon is hiding possible flaws in security measures,” the center states in its statement.
And it also calls for improvements in terms of wages, since it considers that Amazon requires its employees to give “the maximum” and that they pay them “the minimum.” Amazon applies a salary policy of paying in each province or autonomous community the salary of the reference collective agreement.
