The German pair skating champions Minerva Hase and Nolan Seegert from Berlin take fifth place after the short program at the European Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn.
At the top are three Russian couples, led by Anastasija Mishina and Alexander Galljamow in front of the Olympic fourths Yevgenia Tarasova and Wladimir Morosow as well as the defending champions Alexandra Boikowa and Dimitri Koslowski.
Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel (also Berlin) go into the free choice on Wednesday as 13th.
Letizia Roscher and Luis Schuster retired early, the three-time German junior champions from Chemnitz only came 19th out of 21 couples.
