Our country orders 3.9 million vaccines against omikron variant. Is that still necessary for anything? | Inland

The Belgian government orders 3.9 million doses of a vaccine adapted to the omikron variant from Pfizer-BioNTech. This is part of a larger EU order of 180 million doses. Pfizer and BioNTech expect to deliver by March. At least if they get permission to do so from the supervisory authorities. Does it still make sense to inject this vaccine in March, when millions of Belgians have just had an omikron infection? “No”, says Professor Dirk Ramaekers, head of the Vaccination Taskforce. “But that is not the intention.”
