The fire in the block of flats in the center of Solsona has led to the evacuation of a hundred residents, 79 residents of them from three nearby buildings located in the Plaza del Camp and Paseo del Pare Claret. The Firefighters worked with 11 crews to extinguish the fire and see the risk of collapse of the affected block due to the appearance of a large crack in the façade “which is gradually opening up”. The flames completely burned one floor on the second floor and several more floors were affected by the temperature and water of the extinction. No personal injury has occurred. The 21 residents affected were relocated with relatives and in the Gran Sol hotel, on the Manresa road, according to the Solsona city council. The mayor, Judit Gisbert, explained that after two frustrated attempts to revive the fire, the municipal architect will go in for a first evaluation of the block’s structural damage when it is considered safe enough. One of the evicted neighbors, Àlex Huerta, explained how early Sunday morning he was watching television and when he settled down on the sofa to sleep, there was an explosion. “The windows were opened, the TV fell and it was full of fire,” he told ACN.
