Olympics – Beijing 2022: racers rave about the slopes

Outsider Simon Jocher just ahead of top favorite Aleksander Aamodt Kilde: From a German perspective, the premiere on the brand new Olympic downhill run from Beijing was impressive. Small blemish: During the first training session on the course in Yanqing, which he completed with the sixth best time, Jocher made a goal error like numerous other runners.

Swiss Stefan Rogentin set the best time in the first practice session with 1:44.00 minutes. Jocher was 0.39 seconds behind and was two hundredths ahead of Norway’s Kilde. Baumann was eighth, Ferstl 14th. Schwaiger and Sander followed in 20th and 22nd place.

Only four of the five German downhillers are allowed to start in the race on Sunday (4 a.m.CET).
