The Olympic Games start next week. The first highlight: the grand opening ceremony. Here you can have a say in who will lead the German team as the flag bearer.
The time has finally come on February 4th: The Olympic Games start in Beijing – traditionally with the grand opening ceremony. Of course, the German team will also be there, with more than 140 athletes at the start.
Many of these will be there when the various nations enter the Olympic Stadium. The German flag is carried in front of the team – a particularly prestigious task that will be carried out by two people this year. By a woman and by a man.
But who will be the flag bearer of the German team? You can have a say in that at t-online.
Can be chosen from January 24 (from 12:00 a.m.) to January 31 (until 11:59 p.m.). The whole thing is organized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), supported by t-online, ZDF and Eurosport.
The athletes were determined after a pre-selection by the DOSB board and presidium. Criteria included previous successes and role model function.
The mode:
The choice is twofold. On the one hand the public votes, on the other hand the athletes of Team Germany.
The votes of both groups are counted and the percentages of both groups are added. Whoever then has the highest percentage of points for women and men carries the flag together into the Beijing Olympic Stadium.
