Novak Djokovic is illegally in Australia and should leave the country soon. Immigration Secretary Alex Hawke made the decision. You can read his statement on the tennis thriller here in full.
Today I exercised the power granted to me under Section 133C(3) of the Immigration Act and canceled Mr. Novak Djokovic’s visa for reasons of health and good order. This was done on the basis of public interest.
This decision follows the decision of the Federal Circuit and Family Court dated January 10, 2022, which overturned a previous annulment decision on procedural fairness grounds.
In my decision-making process, I carefully considered information brought to me by the Ministry of the Interior, the Border Guard and Mr Djokovic.
The Morrisson Government is committed to protecting Australia’s borders, particularly in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.
