The missile that North Korea launched earlier Wednesday was a hypersonic missile that hit a target set 700 kilometers away in the Sea of Japan without errors, state news agency KCNA reports. The South Korean military and the Japanese government previously spoke of a ballistic missile. North Korea last tested a ballistic missile in October, which has been banned by the United Nations and sparked much criticism.
