In qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix, several drivers who were not necessarily expected to be at the front can stand out.

A clear sign in the Formula 1 title fight: Lando Norris has secured pole position for the Mexican Grand Prix. The McLaren driver set the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday afternoon local time in Mexico City and will start from the front in the race on Sunday (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). The two Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton surprisingly landed in second and third place.

World champion Max Verstappen, who had recently gained significant ground in the Red Bull on the two championship-leading McLarens of Norris and Oscar Piastri, came fourth ahead of Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes). Piastri, still in first place in the World Championship standings, only starts from seventh place.
